Serena ends WTA season in commanding style; Federe

"There's always 2013 and I'm looking forward to it," she added ominously for the opponents at the elite end of the women's game.

The Russian World No.2 did not force a single break point as Williams again served superbly and came under constant pressure on her own delivery.

Sharapova, who beat World No.1 Victoria Azarenka in the semifinals,Monster Beats Outlet, put up a brave fight,Monster Beats, but was outgunned by the 31-year-old American.

Federer, under pressure from Novak Djokovic for the top spot in the rankings, later withdrew from the Paris Masters this week where he is defending champion to rest up ahead of the ATP Tour Finals in London.

With golds in the Olympic singles and doubles, with sister Venus, at the London Games,Monster Beats By Dr Dre, it has proved a glorious finish to the year.

(CNN) -- Serena Williams brushed aside Maria Sharapova in straight sets Sunday to claim the season-ending WTA Tour Championships in Istanbul.

"I have some niggling stuff that I want to heal, I don't want to take a chance for London," he added,Monster Beats Outlet Online Store.

He emerged a 6-4 6-7 7-6 winner after two hours and 44 minutes to claim back to back titles after winning in Vienna the previous week.

In 2011 Federer won in Basel, Paris and London in a superb end to the season.

The Argentine did not drop his service throughout the three-set match to deny the Swiss maestro a sixth title at the hard court tournament.

"I made a little bit of a slow start to 2012," she told Eurosport after her Istanbul romp.

Since mid-summer she has claimed the Wimbledon and U.S. Open titles before coming out on top in the WTA Tour's finale, despite having not played since her Flushing Meadows triumph.

Top seed David Ferrer won the Valencia Open title with a 6-1 3-6 6-4 victory over Aleksandr Dolgopolov of the Ukraine.

Sharapova, who won the French Open to highlight her 2012, bravely stayed in the contest by clinging on to her service, but at 3-5 down she cracked again.

Crunching ground strokes set up two championship points, finished with an explosive forehand as Williams claimed the WTA Championships for the third time.

A single break was enough for Williams to take the first set, finished with a flurry of aces as she served at 5-4 and an early break put her ahead in the second.

Azarenka clinched the season-ending ranking by reaching the semifinals, but on current form Williams will return to the top of the rankings early in 2013.

Williams has looked unbeatable from the moment she struck her first shot in anger at the Sinan Erdem Dome and so it proved again in the final as she triumphed 6-4 6-3.

Meanwhile, Juan Martin del Potro shocked World No.1 and home favorite Roger Federer in the final of the ATP tournament in Basel.

Silence falls as Austin awaits Armstrongs last wor

popular links:

"We haven't seen it in terms of the number of customers coming in," Black said. "It really hasn't had an effect in a negative way."

Its biking culture has been strengthened by the presence of close to 50,000 University of Texas students using bikes to commute around town, the city's provision of cycling infrastructure and the popular biking trails that circle the shoreline of Town Lake on the fringes of downtown.

Giant photographs of Armstrong crossing the line, arms aloft, loom over racks of bikes; a set of framed, signed yellow jerseys fills another wall; Armstrong merchandise is on offer at every turn, from cycling spandex to lemon-flavored waffles.

An International Cycling Union commission has been assembled to investigate the USADA's damning report into the allegations that Armstrong systematically used performance-enhancing drugs.

"There is a sizeable part of the community who really don't care one way or another.

Few in the city disagree that Armstrong put Austin on the cycling map -- and vice versa.

"The last time I talked to him, he seemed to be doing reasonably well," she said. "He has access to a private plane where he can zip off and go hang out in Hawaii at his house there."

"But first and foremost, he is going to think about his family. You can't just go throwing yourself on the mercy of the public and want them to love you again.

"He's in a tough spot right now."

"I've had people come up to me and say 'I've been an athlete. and I know that performance enhancers are not going to help somebody who's not also working hard.' so he's real driven. He's a perfectionist, and he doesn't suffer fools gladly.

Armstrong, who also has a Spanish-style villa close to downtown Austin, has no reason to keep out of the public gaze in his hometown, according to Halliburton.

"Lance is a very divisive topic," Martinez explained. "There are people who really believe he was persecuted and it's not fair what's happening to him.

"We as people want to believe he overcame cancer and he won the most grueling bicycle race in the world, and he did it seven times in a row.

"The last time I talked to him, he said he's going to get the last word.

"He'd already fallen off the pedestal," Martinez argued. "All that is left is for a mea culpa -- but I don't think that is ever going to come."

It was thanks to Armstrong that this laid-back city became synonymous with cycling.

"But cycling was here before Lance got here, and it'll still be here long after we've forgotten him."

Call it the power of celebrity or call it voyeurism, but thanks to Armstrong's notoriety, the Austin store co-owned by the disgraced cyclist, with its name inspired by the Texan's nickname on the Tour -- Mellow Johnny's, an Americanized version of the French for the leader's yellow jersey, maillot jaune -- is doing just fine.

Armstrong steadfastly maintains his innocence,Monster Beats By Dr Dre. But a few blocks east of Mellow Johnny's is the yellow-hued headquarters of the Livestrong Foundation -- the charity Armstrong set up after overcoming testicular cancer that had spread to his lungs, abdomen and brain -- which has taken down his Tour race-winner's yellow jerseys.

"Then there are others who feel he is getting exactly what he deserves. There's a reputation of Lance as a bit of a jerk and (the doping) was part of his win-at-all-costs personality.

The city paid tribute to Armstrong's contribution to cycling with the creation of the Lance Armstrong Bikeway, running east to west across downtown.

He could also face lawsuits from groups such as British newspaper The Sunday Times, which lost legal disputes with Armstrong surrounding doping allegations and,Monster Beats, as a result, paid out huge sums, as well as Texan insurance firm SCA Promotions, which insured performance bonuses paid to the American after he claimed his fourth, fifth and sixth Tour de France wins.

Written out of history

It is not just cycling enthusiasts that are flocking to the shop; the stars of Formula One also stopped off during the sport's first visit to Austin last month.

"He's not beloved anymore,Monster Beats Outlet Online Store, but he's not hated."

"He's still the foundation's biggest donor. He's donated $7 million."

So as they whizz past Armstrong's name emblazoned on square, green and white signs, Austin's cyclists have a permanent reminder of his deeds -- good and bad.

Amid all the opinion and rhetoric bubbling around Armstrong in Austin, there was no sign of the man himself.

McLane says it's his work with the foundation that should remain as Armstrong's lasting legacy, not the implosion of his cycling career.

Away from Austin, the wheels of justice are cranking into gear.

"He lives pretty normal. He goes out to eat. I don't see him keeping a low profile here.

"I would say that Lance's greatest legacy is creating an organization that has helped 2.5 million people when they are facing cancer," she added.

"It would be Lance's decision," general manager Will Black explained when asked why the memorabilia remains on display, given Armstrong's spectacular fall from grace. "If he decides he wants us to take them down, we would, but until that happens, they will stay up."

Back at the 15-year-old Livestrong Foundation charity, which has raised more than $500 million to support cancer patients, donations have increased since the allegations linking Armstrong with serial doping.

But if the American has been written out of cycling history -- "Lance Armstrong has no place in cycling," said the International Cycling Union's president, Pat McQuaid, recently -- the cyclist's legacy at home in Austin remains deep-rooted and complex.

"When he started winning the Tour, there was lots of buzz. People gathered to watch it; there were parties all round town, not just at bike shops but at bars and grills. It was a tremendous boost."

"It might be that people are learning about the work of the foundation as a result of the controversy from the cycling world," mused Livestrong spokeswoman Katherine McLane. "In which case, that is a positive effect."

Back in Texas, there is a little expectation of Armstrong undergoing a Damascene conversion.

"He's got five kids, two of whom live with him. He's very active, going to see all their sporting events, sometimes coaching their soccer teams. He sits in line to pick up the kids.

There have been calls for the bikeway to be renamed, but Austin's Mayor Lee Leffingwell says he has no plans to amend this homage to Armstrong.

Halliburton is less sure.

His only public appearance since the scandal enveloped him was at a Livestrong gala on October 20, and when Formula One made its debut in the city, Armstrong flew to Hawaii to avoid the hubbub.

Suzanne Halliburton, who has followed Armstrong's rise and fall for the Austin American-Statesman newspaper since 1996, is one of the few still in regular contact with Armstrong.

(CNN) -- Forty days alone in the wilderness was enough for Jesus, but Lance Armstrong is facing an altogether longer period of solitude.

Armstrong stepped down as chairman of the Livestrong Foundation in October, the same month the organization also legally changed its name from the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso took a look inside Mellow Johnny's while seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher and Mark Webber of Red Bull both purchased bikes,Monster Beats Outlet.

"The Lance Armstrong effect is part of what gave cycling such a big boost here," said Gilbert Martinez, president of the Austin Cycling Association Gilbert Martinez.

And by the look of the shop's bustle on a Monday morning, Mellow Johnny's will survive the scandal that has enveloped Armstrong.

The disgraced former cycling icon was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles 44 days ago, on October 22, and has spent most of the intervening period in his hometown of Austin, Texas.

Since the release of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency's report that stated there was ever seen in professional cycling, the American's reputation has unraveled like a onion being peeled away one layer at a time.

"Whether you think Lance did drugs or not -- and it looks like he did something -- he still worked his ass off," she opined.

While he contemplates his next move, there have been beneficiaries of his newfound infamy, notably Mellow Johnny's bike store.

"When he rides, he goes out to the Hill Country, but his house is in central Austin," she explained.

A remarkable idea come to life, the Solar Roadway could very well become one of the greatest infrastructure innovations of the 21st century. It's time to upgrade.

Is the surface safe for cars to drive on? Apparently, it's safer than concrete, which collects a slick sheen of oil on its surface over time. The hardness of glass falls between steel and stainless steel. It's also easier and faster to replace than cement.

Each road panel is made of three basic layers. The road surface layer is translucent and rough enough to provide great traction,Prada Outlet, capable of handling today's heaviest loads under the absolute worst conditions. An electronics layer would control the heating element, lighting, communications and monitoring to create an intelligent highway system. The base plate layer would take the sun collected from the electronics layer and distribute it to homes and businesses connected to the roadway.

Thus far, the results have proved favourable and the company was awarded a follow-up 2-year Phase II $750,000 SBIR contract in 2011 to build a prototype parking lot,Prada Bags Outlet Sale.

According to inventors/creators of , Scott and Julie Brusaw, sections of the road could be made out of solar cells to collect energy, which would more than pay for the cost of the panel. And what if LEDs were added beneath road lines for safer night time driving and heating elements were added to prevent snow/ice accumulation is northern climates? Those are questions the Solar Roadways project sought to answer under a 2009 Federal Highway Administration contract to build the first ever prototype.

Britney Spears Wants To Guest Star On ‘Moder

Britney Spears’ television resume may contain at least one glaringly painful reality TV entry (“Britney & Kevin: Chaotic”), but she’s also appeared on a couple of comedies, “Glee”,Chanel Tote Bags; and “How I Met Your Mother,” playing herself in the first and a receptionist at a doctor’s office in the second. So what show does the recently engaged pop next want to appear on? The awards-darling comedy “Modern Family” of course. It all started with a simple tweet from the princess of pop. “I know everybody is excited about the Super Bowl, but I personally can’t wait to see the next episode of ‘Modern Family!’ Funniest show on TV,” she wrote on Tuesday. But the fire spread when “Modern Family’s” Sofia Vergara retweeted Spears’ tweet. Then, Spears’ manager got fans riled up by writing “@BritneySpears on ‘Modern Family?’ What do you guys think?” Thus, the tag #GetBritneyOnModernFamily was born. “I would love to be on it!” Spears wrote after the tag took off in the Twitterverse,Chanel 2011 Handbags. Nothing has been confirmed by Spears or ABC, of course, so as of right now it’s just a Twitter dream fueled by fans.

It’s been a little bit since our dear Britney Spears made a guest appearance on TV … as you may recall, in recent years Brit Brit made and . It would seem that Britney has got the itch to act again because she seems very interested in making a guest appearance on the ABC comedy series Modern Family. Britney innocently (on purpose?) tweeted her love for the show … and that love has inspired a grassroots campaign to try and get her to appear on the show! .

[]

First, I have to say … YES, GET BRITNEY ON MODERN FAMILY. I don’t watch the show but I would DEFFO tune in to watch her on the show. Secondly, I must admit … I really don’t think Britney‘s original tweet was anything more than just fan love for the show. The fact that it has grown into something more is just a product of the crazy social media world we live in these days. Fans can pick up any scrap of anything and turn it into something BIG if they just try hard enough. after a fan decided he wanted her on the show and he started a Facebook profile to get the job done. At this very early stage of this … campaign … I think it’s far too soon to get excited about any upcoming Modern Family guest appearance. But, this thing could grow legs and we may be talking about our dear Britney on the show at some point down the line. I’m ALL for it … how about you?

Indianapolis at New England (CBS): For quite some time, this game was CBS's marquee game. How could you go wrong with Manning and Brady? The teams were always in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt and, in a generation where we've seen the game become totally quarterback-driven, these are the two teams that proved it. They may not have won every year, but they were always right there sniffing. Tennis prodigy Bernard Tomic denies rift with his

,Jimmy Choo Salsa Glitter Slingbacks Sliver Online

Tennis insiders have long predicted Tomic will find a new coach as he seeks independence and new influences.

Tomic made headlines for all the right reasons following his impressive performance at the Australian Open in January. But he followed that with a run-in with Gold Coast police and a subsequent appearance in court for traffic infringements.

Tomic, 19, brushed aside questions post-match over the second set blow-up despite asking French chair umpire Cedric Mourier to have John Tomic removed from the courtside seating.

John Tomic was forced to apologise in 2009 for ordering his son off the court during a match with Marinko Matosevic in Perth. Bernard was then suspended from contesting International Tennis Federation tournaments after obeying his father's instructions.

Mourier then issues a code violation warning for illegal coaching, prompting Bernard to say "thanks".

"There's no problem, I just wanted my racquets restrung," he said. "There's nothing in it."

Bernard Tomic: "It's not gonna happen. If you see him (coaching), tell him to be quiet.",Metallic-trimmed leather sandals;Mourier: "He (John Tomic) knows already. I caught him (coaching) already."

Mourier replies: "If you tell him to leave."

John Tomic has been involved in several spats with fellow Australian tennis identities, including coach Roger Rasheed.

Despite video evidence of the incident, Bernard claimed he was merely asking John to have his racquets restrung.

Australian Open director Craig Tiley has a strong working relationship with John Tomic, crediting him for much of Bernard's success.

"I want him to leave but how's that possible?"

The incident with his father follows his break-up with girlfriend Donay Meijer earlier this month, when the model and pharmacology student quipped: "I'm a bigger person, I'm just going to leave it there."

Commentators at the match seized on John Tomic's "negative body language" before Bernard said he would appeal against a possible fine for coaching.

Tomic told Mourier he waited for more than an hour for the racquets to be returned.

and like

John Tomic is seen shaking his head after his son slumped to 0-30 in the fifth game of the second set. Bernard then repeatedly brandishes his racquet in John's direction, indicating he should leave the arena, before winning the game.

Footage of an exchange between Tomic and Mourier contrasts with the Wimbledon quarter-finalist's denial that he had a problem with his father.

Bernard then approaches Mourier and is clearly heard asking that John be moved before telling the umpire to call a code violation against his father for illegal coaching. "He's annoying - I know he's my father - but he's annoying me," Bernard tells Mourier.

My new girlfriend wants me to bin my old “to

Dear Bossy: My last girlfriend and I were very into bedroom play, and over the course of our relationship, I collected a hefty number of toys for said play. The relationship ended and I kept my favourites. I’ve been seeing another woman, and I suggested the use of toys in bed, and she agreed. Then I showed her my collection, and she was...well, a little shocked I think. She then asked if I’d ever used them with another partner,High Heels Red Bottom Disconoeud 140mm, and I confessed that I had (but I’ve washed them!!!).

She then told me that if I wanted us to play with the toys together,High Heels Red Bottom Daffodile 160mm, I would have to buy all new ones, and also told me that she was a little scared by the number of toys that I had, like it was some sort of problem. We didn’t have sex that night, and we haven’t since. She has now said that she wants me to throw the whole lot out, because they are something that I shared with my ex. I don’t see them that way, they are just erotic toys. I don’t feel an emotional link between my ex and the toys. I don’t want to throw out my collection...is my new girlfriend being too demanding? Or am I missing something here? I really like this woman, but we haven’t been together for me to know if it is really going to last, so is it worth throwing away my much-loved toys just to please her?

Bossy says: Keep your toys by all means but don’t expect your new girlfriend to feel happy about using them.

She’s not being too demanding. You’re being a wally. It’s not like she’s asking you to get a whole new set of dinnerware because your last girlfriend ate off those same plates. You’re asking her to use the same sex toys. And in the words of one wise woman...."Yerrrrrch".

You don’t have to bin the toys. You could hide them and bring them out when you are alone. But if you want to start a new, meaningful relationship with this new woman I’d suggest you see a brand new set of toys as an investment in the future.

How many cats do I need before I am officially a c

Totally agree Charlie Harper, Oh and DJ exhibits section 9 of my cat owners guidelines from his previous post.

It’,High Heels Red Bottom Fifi 100mm;s funny how it’s always a crazy cat lady but you never seem to hear about a crazy cat man… why is that?

I have noticed that dog’s are usually purchased as an enhancement of a fully functional family unit and a positive household. They are purchased by positive, fun loving and outgoing people. Cats I have found are purchased by people that are in a social slump, they are a depressing animal for depressing and boring people. Please challenge my opinion to prove my point.

Now if you are even one of these you are eligible. Deny it if you want but you know it’s true.

Cats portray the same assholish attitude bad boys use to attract women and it appears cats have the same ability to draw in the mentally retarded as well. Cats don’t care about you, they come for their feed then go off on their own agenda, they probably have 3 or 4 other owners you have no idea about. They are selfish in nature and care little for humans.

Now dogs, they are mans best friend for a reason. They are loyal and dependant on you for survival. Now cat owners will argue that’s their downfall, but I say that strengthens the bond between you, much like a mother and child,High Heels Red Bottom Hyper Prive 120mm. It’s give and take. You feed and nuture a dog and it will repay you in friendship and loyalty. Feed and nurture a cat and you get little attention and a whole lot of fur and shit.

There is a certain breed of people that buy cats and they mostly (for all the stupid people that say “you can’t group us all together like that") all have the same traits. Here is a small list I have compiled that would make you think you should by a cat:

1. Poor self esteem
2. No social life or friends (outcast)
3. No romantic partner
4. Introvert/Pussy
5. Divorcee
6. Unable to conceive children
7. Lonely
8. Pussy whipped and the wife wants one (Puts you in the introvert/Pussy category)
9. Wanker
10. Want to pretend you’re intelligent and feel like a cat will enhance the book reading academic lifestyle you are trying to portray.

Cats.....

Royal Pains is a show that follows the "better every year" pattern established by R&I and other successful shows. Mark Feuerstein is the main attraction as Hank Lawson, a concierge doctor in the Hamptons. He and his brother Evan (Paulo Costanzo) ended last season at each other's throats. The question for this year is whether or not they will stay together in the "HankMed" business.

Rizzoli & Isles on the other hand has a super supporting cast which includes the irreplaceable Lorraine Bracco. As Rizzoli's mom she is always in the right place at the right time, dispensing maternal love to both Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and Isles (Sasha Alexander) and also a few words of homespun wisdom. The show really brightens up when Isles' mother (Jacqueline Bissett) appears and the two opposites are featured.

Rizzoli & Isles, Franklin & Bash, and Royal Pains are all vying for the summer audience. They all have potential but if any show is going to sink it will be Franklin & Bash. Hey, two out of three isn't bad in the world of the TV races.

Royal Pains has a lot of plot going on but it is always handled with a light touch and a lot of heart. That is the secret of its success and it should keep the show afloat for a few more years. If Feuerstein and company stay as charming as they currently are that should be a breeze.

It's summertime and the cable networks are off to the races. First out of the gate are Rizzoli & Isles and Franklin & Bash on TNT followed by Royal Pains on the USA Network. With all of the fall and winter shows on the networks coming to an end, the cable channels see clear sailing ahead. When a cable show starts out it usually gets a season and a half to prove its worth. Only the truly rotten see their demise in the first season.

Franklin & Bash is one of those shows that got to coast to a second season. Franklin (Breckin Meyer) and Bash (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) have the buddy lawyer thing down but they are still lacking in the adult side of their story. The frat thing they have going on has limited appeal and the audience needs to see some sobriety and intelligence from time to time.

Also, for any series to make a lasting impression it has to have a solid supporting cast. This is where F&B really falls apart. Malcolm McDowell is the biggest star on the show; as Senior Partner Stanton Infeld, he is the boys' mentor. All last season his character never seemed to gel with the other characters and I really expected Malcolm to get the boot, but he is still on the show for the time being.

Rizzoli & Isles airs Tuesdays at 9Pm on TNT followed by Franklin & Bash at 10PM. Royal Pains airs Wednesday nights at 9 on the USA Network.

Hank's assistant Divya (Reshma Shetty) is worried her future will fall apart if the guys split up. She is already alienated from her parents and over her head in debt. She works with Hank's girlfriend Jill (Jill Flint) to try to persuade the guys to bury the hatchet,【Jimmy Choo Aimee Patent Leather Pumps Nude Onlinehttp://www.vogue2013.com/point/2012/11/10/jimmy-choo-aimee-patent-leather-pumps-nude-online/】. Jill can only do so much because she has accepted a job in South America and is supposedly leaving soon.

R&I is a show that has gotten better with each season. This is because Harmon and Alexander set the quality standard and then the rest of the cast falls in line. Bruce McGill is particularly interesting as Rizzoli's partner Detective Vince Corsak. He brings a gruffness that only hides a huge heart, which everyone can see. R&I was paired with The Closer last year but now they have F&B as their follow on show. I am okay with that as long as F&B doesn't drag them down.

Rachel Zoe A-list stylist turned fashion designer

"This week is New York Fashion Week. Top fashion designers are showcasing their Ready-to-Wear Fall 2011 collections. One of the most highly anticipated collections is the debut collection from Rachel Zoe. Rachel Zoe is a celebrity stylist who has become almost as famous as her clientele. Apart from being a stylist, she has her very own reality TV show, she has written a book and designed a QVC collection.Rachel Zoe, who is currently too pregnant to fly, debuted her collection to buyers in early January (although pictures have not been released until this week). She is best known for her signature 'boho chic' look and this collection does not disappoint! Her collection is full of beautiful dresses and pantsuits (and a couple shortsuits). The color palette is mostly black and white (with a few reds, browns and plaids mixed in) and full of faux fur, ruffles, color blocking and sequins. The collection is reminiscent of the 70's and very true to Rachel Zoe's personal style.View slideshow:Rachel Zoe's Debut CollectionIn a September 2007 article by the New York Times, Rachel Zoe is quoted as saying ""Anna Wintour is one of my heroes, but they say that Im more influential. As great as it is, Vogue wont change a designers business. But if an unknown brand is worn by a certain person in a tabloid, it will be the biggest designer within a week."" She sounds pretty confident and it would appear that she will be spending her time dressing her famous clients in her new fashion line instead of wooing the magazine editors and the rest of the fashion world. Only time will tell what will become of Rachel Zoe's latest career venture. The physical requirements for the production of such devices were worked out by Morris and Thorne in 1988. They approached the issue of rapid spacetime transport by asking the question: what constraints do the laws of physics as we know them place on an “,Coach Outlet Online Store;arbitrarily advanced culture” (AAC)? Their answer – a Jupiter mass of negative restmass matter in a structure a few tens of meters in size – seems to have rendered such things beyond the realm of the believably achievable. This might be taken as justification for abandoning further serious exploration of the physics of stargates. If such an investigation is pursued,Coach Factory Outlet, however, one way to do so is to invert Morris and Thorne's question and ask: if “arbitrarily advanced aliens” (AAAs) have actually made stargates, what must be true of the laws of physics for them to have done so? Elementary arithmetic reveals that stargates would have an “,{www.coachoutlettote.com};exotic” density of on the order of 10^22 gm/cm3,http://www.coachoutlettote.com/, that is,Coach Outlet, orders of magnitude higher than nuclear density. Not only does one have to achieve this stupendous density of negative mass matter, it must be done, presumably, only with the application of “low” energy electromagnetic fields. We examine this problem, finding that a plausible solution does not depend on the laws of quantum gravity, as some have proposed. Rather, the solution depends on understanding the nature of electrons in terms of a semi-classical extension of the exact, general relativistic electron model of Arnowitt, Deser, and Misner (ADM), and Mach's Principle.

The negative bare mass ADM model of the electron can be modified to accommodate quantized spin.

Given some modest amount of everyday type matter, say a few hundred or thousand kilograms, all we have to do is enclose the matter within another presumably thin shell of matter wherein we can change its mass from positive to negative. It would have to become sufficiently negative to null the positive mass of the initial mass of the shell and the matter it encloses. But if we could do that, we would screen the gravitational influence of the matter in the rest of the universe on the matter within the thin shell.

Find a way to screen our electron from the gravitational potential due to the rest of the universe, the denominator would become of order unity and the exotic bare mass of the electron – 21 orders of magnitude larger than its normal mass and negative – would be exposed. Do this to a modest amount of normal stuff and you would have your Jupiter mass of exotic matter to make a traversable stargate – if the negative bare mass ADM model of elementary particles is a plausible representation of reality.

Data from Kepler’s first 136 days of operation are analyzed to determine the distribution of exoplanets with respect to radius, period, and host-star spectral type,Coach Outlet Online Store. The analysis is extrapolated to estimate the percentage of terrestrial, habitable-zone exoplanets. The Kepler census is assumed to be complete for bright stars (magnitude less than 14,Coach Outlet.0) having transiting planets over 0,Coach Factory Outlet.5 Earth radius and periods less than 42 days. It is also assumed that the size distribution of planets is independent of orbital period, and that there are no hidden biases in the data. Six significant statistical results are found: there is a paucity of small planet detections around faint target stars, probably an instrumental effect; the frequency of mid-size planet detections is independent of whether the host star is bright or faint; there are significantly fewer planets detected with periods less than 3 days, compared to longer periods, almost certainly an astrophysical effect; the frequency of all planets in the population with periods less than 42 days is 29%, broken down as terrestrials 9%, ice giants 18%, and gas giants 3%; the population has a planet frequency with respect to period which follows a power-law relation dN/dP ∼ P−1, with ≃ 0.71 ± 0,{www.coachoutlettote.com}.08; and an extrapolation to longer periods gives the frequency of terrestrial planets in the habitable zones of FGK stars as about (34 ± 14)%. Thus about one-third of FGK stars are predicted to have at least one terrestrial, habitable-zone planet,http://www.coachoutlettote.com/.

The period and radius of Kepler planets in the sample, around bright stars,
are plotted. The lower right corner is relatively empty, probably owing to low SNR there, not because small planets are absent from long periods. The upper left corner is relatively sparse, in spite of an expected high SNR there, implying a deficit of large planets on short-period orbits. The left side of the diagram is relatively empty owing to an apparent paucity of planets of all sizes at periods less than 3 days. The right side of the diagram is not completely sampled in the current database, so should be ignored here.

Jinko Solar Holding Co Ltd

In the quarter ending June 30, Jinko Solar shipped 302 Megawatts worth of solar modules, wafers and cells. This was a 45% increase over the same quarter of 2011. However the company lost $48 million US in the process.

The stocks of Chinese solar manufacturers that trade in the US have been battered by the tariffs on top of the cutthroat pricing competition that has every solar panel manufacturer producing at a loss.

As of June 30, Jinko Solar had a Working Capital deficit of $175 million – not a good sign. However Jinko has a relatively low level of long term debt - about$123 million. So the company could potentially find a means to work through the current malaise.

Some Chinese manufacturers will challenge the tariffs. But with American solar companies hurting and some going bankrupt, it will be a difficult fight to rescind these penalties,Coach Outlet.

Hanwha Solar One is a somewhat different company – a Chinese manufacturer that is partially owned by a large Korean conglomerate – Hanwha Group. Hanwha Solar is not one of the biggest players in the solar module market, but they are growing. The company shipped over 230 Megawatts of solar panels in the second quarter that ended June 30. Sales were made in 25 different countries.

Jinko Solar Holding Co Ltd

In a different kind of conflict, in May of this year the US Department of Commerce imposed tariffs on solar panels manufactured in China. Chinese solar panel makers are accused of dumping their product on the US market below cost in order to kill the US manufacturing competition. The tariffs of roughly 31% are retroactive to February.

But there are Shiite/Sunni wars raging on Iran’s borders in Syria and Iraq. Tossing a nuke on Tel Aviv would not only eliminate the Zionist State, it would establish Iran as the dominant military power in the Middle East. The clerics who run the country appear willing to have Iran’s citizens sacrifice towards that aim.

It’s important to look at the balance sheets before buying any of these stocks. Assuming the numbers are reasonably accurate, there are some companies that aren’t too badly leveraged and are thus better able to weather this storm. The prices of these stocks are down huge. For those who are inclined to bottom fish, this is the time to toss in a line.

Trina’s stock closed in New York at $4.62 on Friday. In April of last year it traded at about $30.

Jinko Solar has been a big seller to Western Europe, but has been trying to diversify away from that market,{www.coachoutlettote.com}. As an example, the company just announced a deal to partner with a Chinese government agency to build Kenya’s largest solar project – a 50 Megawatt solar farm.

The solar industry is shaking out around the world. Not all Chinese solar module manufacturers will survive. But some will. It would be best to use a shotgun approach with these stocks,http://www.coachoutlettote.com/, buying a bit of a few different companies with the hope that one or two winners will more than make up for any losers. The winners could eventually win big. The losers may lose everything.

As of June 30, Trina had about $2 billion US in current assets, and total liabilities of $2.1 billion,Coach Outlet Online Store. So the money in the bank, as it were, came close to all outstanding debts. That’s a solid position, but those numbers have certainly deteriorated in the months since because the company is losing money like all its competitors.

The US would hope to break the resistance of the Iranian regime without a fight. But that doesn&rsquo,Coach Factory Outlet;t look likely either. UN imposed sanctions are squeezing Iran and there is rioting in the streets because of the deteriorating economy and the devaluing Iranian currency.

Trina is a big manufacturer. The company expected to ship between 450 and 480 Megawatts of solar panels in the quarter that just ended . Trina is busy developing the Chinese market – making deals with municipalities to build utility scale solar power plants.

Hanwha Solar One announced recently that its parent Hanwha Group has purchased the bankrupt German solar manufacturer – Q-cells. This appears to be a pre-emptive move to avoid any European tariffs by basing some manufacturing there.

Trina Solar Ltd.

Benjamin Netanyahu showed a primitive diagram of a bomb to the UN General Assembly to demonstrate how close Iran has come to building a nuke. The message was blunt. Israel is not going to wait till the enemy is fully ready.

The company is losing money like the rest, but the balance sheet is relatively strong. As of June 30, the company had about $200 million US in Working Capital versus about $390 million in long term debt. A fairly healthy picture. The stock closed at $1.06 on Friday.

A number of Chinese panel manufacturers were exhibiting at the Solar Power International conference in Orlando last month. I was told by representatives from a few of these companies that they were circumventing the tariffs by doing some of their manufacturing in Taiwan.

“It is only one who is thoroughly acquainted with the evils of war that can thoroughly understand the profitable way of carrying it on”

Iran’s government may not be manufacturing apocalyptic weapons. It may have purely peaceful uses for the enriched uranium being spun in underground centrifuges.
But it’s unlikely.

“To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence: supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.”

There is a loophole in the tariff structure. Chinese manufacturers can produce silicon wafers, ship them to Taiwan to have the wafers made into solar cells, and then ship those cells back to China to have them finished into panels. This system circumvents the tariffs as they now stand.

Hanwha Solar One

Last Thursday, Jinko’s stock had a quick move up of about 20%. The company released a statement to say only that it doesn’t comment on stock moves and the stock fell back on Friday, to close at $3.97

From Sun Tzu’s “Art Of War”…

But there is a move in Congress to close these loopholes. Worse yet for the Chinese solar manufacturers is that they are now facing similar action from Europe – a much bigger market for solar modules than the US. The European Commission is considering whether to impose tariffs on solar panels imported from China. Europe could impose higher tariffs than the US with fewer loopholes.

Hanwha Solar’s panel sales increased 12% over the same quarter last year, though it is still losing money on these sales.

It also means that solar cells manufactured in Q-cells plants can be used in solar panels manufactured by Hanwha in China and shipped to the US tariff free (assuming the tariff rules aren’t changed) .

Trina Solar has been in business since 1997. The company is fully integrated - it produces silicone ingots, wafers, cells and modules. Trina likes to pride itself on technical innovation. The company holds almost 350 patents related to solar manufacturing. Solar panel manufacturing is a game of incremental gains. Small edges in efficiency and price can be the difference between winners and losers. Trina is determined to succeed in the technological battle.

Jinko Solar is a fully integrated manufacturer. The company likes to point out that it has highly automated manufacturing facilities with an emphasis on precise quality control.

The rest of the world is busy dealing with deflated economies and high unemployment. This new trouble brewing in the Middle East is a secondary issue for most. But it’s likely that sooner rather than later another war will be fought close to the veins of petroleum that run from the Persian Gulf. And a higher price for energy could be collateral damage.

It may be that Chinese solar panel manufacturers have been predatory. Their goal may have been to annihilate the competition. But now after price wars and trade wars these companies are just trying to hang on and survive. They can continue to produce panels for the local Chinese market and for other countries that don’t have local panel manufacturing businesses. But there is still massive overcapacity and most companies will have to cut production and it’s likely some big companies will go out of business as has already happened in Europe and the US.

Some Chinese companies are taking preliminary steps to partner with European companies to avoid future tariffs.

"I never thought the situation was so bad, I just saw things on TV," al-Omar continued as his eyes filled with tears. "When I saw these things with my own eyes I cried, 'How can Bashar al-Assad do this? ... I apologize to the Syrian people, because I worked at some point with this butcher and killer regime."

A commercial on a Syrian website shows al-Omar holding a microphone in front of a banner advertising "Al Aleppia TV." Journalists in Aleppo said the station was a cheaply run operation that broadcast over the Internet.

Journalist Ammar Cheikh Omar contributed to this report.

During a four-hour interview in Istanbul, al-Omar described in detail some of the propaganda methods used by pro-government media.

"Sometimes we would see him do things with his head, hands or feet that are not appropriate for a president," he continued,Prada Bags UK.

"Three or four months into the revolution, he seemed more preoccupied and more anxious, rarely did we see him smiling," al-Omar recalled.

"I swear I cried when I entered Atareb and saw that all the houses and shops were abandoned, everything was destroyed and burned,Prada Bags Outlet," al-Omar said.

It is impossible to independently confirm al-Omar's claims. The fact that he freely admits to a career as a government propagandist makes him a somewhat unreliable whistle-blower.

"The Iranians met with Bashar al-Assad almost daily," Omar said. "Iranian security officials, high-ranking officers of the Iranian revolutionary guard, a lot of high-ranking officers."

Al-Omar was also photographed alongside regime allies such as Palestinian Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, the Iranian ambassadors to both Damascus and Beirut, and a bearded man al-Omar identified as the head of the politburo of Hezbollah.

"Bashar al-Assad has 16 TV screens in the meeting room,Prada UK, in his office, and also in the press office," the defector said. "Most news channels on the top row of the TV screens were Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, BBC, CNN. ... He considered media people his first enemy. He hated them more than the revolution of the Free Syrian Army, especially the foreign reporters who enter Syria, because these were people who were showing the true picture and truth about what's happening in Syria. ...

Istanbul (CNN) -- For years, Abdullah al-Omar rubbed shoulders with some of the most powerful people in Syria.

Al-Omar's motives for abandoning his position near the seat of power are not entirely clear.

One of Omar's assignments was to book pro-regime guests on his TV channel, as well as on larger international networks, to discredit defectors from the Syrian government.

However, the editorial director of a pro-rebel media organization who asked not to be named for security reasons confirmed to CNN that he knows al-Omar worked for Syrian secret police.

"Two days after he returned from medical treatment in Russia, Maher al-Assad came to the presidential palace," al-Omar said. "He had lost his left leg in the bombing and also the use of his left arm."

In case there is any doubt, he is quick to show photos in his phone as proof.

Scores of photographs show the corpulent Syrian beaming and shaking hands with government ministers, foreign dignitaries, and even the Syrian president.

It could be self-preservation. According to reports on several Syrian websites, al-Omar survived an attack in Aleppo by "armed terrorists" in 2011. Asked about the incident, the normally voluble al-Omar declined to comment.

There is no way to confirm al-Omar's claims, but several foreign reporters have lost their lives in Syria this year.

After protests erupted against the government in March 2011, al-Omar said, he was ordered to establish a pro-regime TV station in Aleppo.

"We would contact regime loyalists from Lebanon or Syria to appear as guests on Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya and other channels, to say these defectors are bad, corrupt, and not doing their jobs well."

It was a tearful, emotional apology from a Syrian who had spent years working his way into the halls of power. But his sincerity was questionable, coming from a man who admitted to spending years lying for the Syrian regime.

Until he defected and fled the Syrian capital last month, al-Omar said, the bulk of his work consisted of lying.

During a visit to Atareb last August, CNN journalists saw a virtual ghost town of ruined buildings devastated by months of fighting between regime forces and rebels.

In what may have been a breach of protocol, al-Omar also appeared in photos with former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud dressed in a shiny nylon track suit.

"He knew me by name," al-Omar said, pointing to a photo of himself standing with . "One day we were sitting at a table and he fed me with his own hand and said to me, 'You love food since you are from Aleppo.' Then he said to his escort, 'Take special care of Abdullah al-Omar because he loves food and his stomach.'"

"He is the biggest informant for the Al Jawiya," the Syrian journalist said, referring to Syria's much-feared air force intelligence agency. "He was a very strong informant who worked for the palace and worked for Bouthaina (Shabaan)."

Al-Omar claims that for five years he worked in the press office of the presidential palace in Damascus, as part of a 15-person team under the direction of long-time government spokeswoman and presidential adviser Bouthaina Shabaan.

Meanwhile, the Syrian government has also held several foreign reporters in captivity for protracted periods without acknowledging their presence. With the help of Iranian mediation, Syrian authorities released Turkish journalists Adem Ozkose and Hamit Coskun in May, nearly two months after they disappeared in northern Syria.

Al-Omar claimed al-Assad narrowly missed the bombing by a few minutes. He also said Maher al-Assad, a top military commander and brother to the Syrian president, was gravely wounded in the bombing. He also claimed Maher al-Assad was transported to Russia for treatment.

During the government's artillery bombardment of the rebel-held neighborhood of Baba Amr in the city of Homs, loyalist women were brought in and disguised as locals for government television interviews, he said.

"The women would say that the massacres against men, women and children were perpetrated by armed gangs, when it was actually the Syrian regime, security forces and the Shabiha" -- the pro-government militia -- "who were behind these horrendous acts," al-Omar said.

Instead, the former propagandist said the turning point came last month, when he drove through his hometown of Atareb in the north of the country.

"Our job was to fabricate, make deceptions and cover up for Bashar al-Assad's crimes,Prada Bags Online," he said.

"I remember that day as if it was yesterday, when state TV showed Assad parading through Baba Amr, not a single resident was from the area,Prada Bags Sale," said a native of Homs, now exiled to neighboring Lebanon. "They brought them from neighboring towns from the countryside so they could pretend he was getting a hero's welcome, that he was greeted as a beloved leader, when in reality everyone in Homs knew he was behind the destruction of every house and the killing of every innocent civilian on Homs and every other city in Syria."

These claims are backed by the accounts of residents of Homs, who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal at the hands of Syrian security forces.

There is ample photographic evidence to back this claim.

Omar offered tantalizing -- and impossible to independently confirm-- details about the inner workings of the presidential palace.

Pictures also revealed al-Omar at the presidential palace and at what appear to be government receptions, posing alongside high-ranking officials like Shabaan, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem, and top members of the Syrian parliament and ruling Baath political party.

Amid efforts to crack down on voices of dissent as well as the growing armed insurgency, the presidential palace was not immune to danger, al-Omar said.

In more than a dozen photos, al-Omar is clearly seated at press conferences featuring al-Assad and a number of visiting heads of state, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Asked how his former colleagues would react to his own defection, al-Omar said, "they will follow standard procedure and say Abdullah al-Omar has nothing to do with the press office, and doesn't work in the presidential palace, and that they never heard of me and that I descended from heaven just to smear the image of the regime.

"But what will embarrass them," he continued, "is that I appear in a lot of pictures and videos, practically in all the press conferences for Bashar al-Assad and his official reception ceremonies."

"He would get very angry and swear, cursing the secret police and security forces saying, why can't they find out where these reporters are, capture them and 'bring them to me so that I can kill them.'"

"One day I saw him kicking a table and he was cursing and swearing against the people of Homs, Rastan and Daraa, and he verbally abused the Sunnis and the Syrian people in general."

The biggest crisis took place in July, when a bomb killed four top security officials from the national crisis management bureau. Among the dead was presidential security adviser Hassan Turkmani, a stern-faced man with a mustache who was shown in several photographs standing alongside al-Omar.

The president's brother has not been seen in public since the bombing. Shortly after the attack, diplomatic sources were saying Maher al-Assad had been badly wounded.

When contacted by CNN, the Russian government did not immediately respond to al-Omar's allegation.

and photographer Remi Ochlik were killed by government artillery fire in Homs in February. They were among the first of a growing number of foreign journalists killed and wounded after entering Syria to report without government permission.

Throughout the bloody 19 months of the Syrian uprising, he said, the Syrian president grew increasingly irritable and anxious. Al-Omar described how al-Assad began nervously pacing the halls, and often stared out the windows of the hilltop palace down at the city of Damascus.

Al-Omar said al-Assad worked out of an office about 30 meters down the corridor from the room where the press department was stationed. He claimed the beleaguered president was obsessed with foreign media coverage of Syria.

The U.S. State Department recently announced that is also believed to be in Syrian government hands. Tice disappeared in Syria last August. Meanwhile, a campaign has been organized in Turkey to lobby for the release of Cuneyt Unal, a Turkish cameraman who was captured in Syria and paraded on government television last August.

7. How will Penn State address Mike McQueary's lawsuit?

A plausible way for Penn State to address victims' lawsuits would be to seek a global settlement, whereby those who show sufficient evidence that they were victimized by Sandusky either at Penn State or through his association with Penn State can draw on a university fund. The upside of such a fund for victims would be avoiding going to trial, which would produce a public record; avoiding any appeals process; and receiving compensation and closure. The upside to Penn State would be avoiding litigation and the public spectacle of opposing Sandusky's victims in court. In terms of the amount victims would be paid through a fund, one indicator may be the average of settlements between the Catholic Church and victims of sex abuse. According to BishopAccountability.org, that number is $268,466.

No,http://www.coachfactorysale-outlet.com/. To be sure, Sandusky maintaining his innocence and blaming his victims in the face of overwhelming evidence seems offensive and absurd. But there are at least three possible explanations.

While in prison, Sandusky will be able to purchase a television and watch a limited selection of programming, including college football. He'll also be able to work, although he is barred under Pennsylvania law from profiting from his crimes. As a result, he cannot profit from any book he writes on the trial or accept paid television interviews,Coach Factory Online.

3. What kind of prison will Sandusky be housed in?

Even if the victims' claims are not barred by statute of limitations or sovereign immunity, Penn State could insist that it satisfied any legal duties owed to Sandusky's victims. Granted, the Freeh Report paints Penn State as irresponsible and incompetent in its employment of Sandusky. But the report was an investigation and critique, not an application of law to facts. The report also does not conclusively say Penn State owes money to Sandusky's victims,www.coachfactorysale-outlet.com. A trial of Penn State's actions would also be different from the Freeh investigation, which interviewed some but not all witnesses, examined evidence without worrying about its admissibility in court, lacked subpoena power and conducted interviews of persons who were not under oath.

Second, Sandusky may wish to give his family and friends reason to believe him. If he instead admitted to being a serial rapist, his family and friends would probably be less inclined to visit him in prison. Prisoners often say that visits from loved ones keep them going.

Penn State could also cite the doctrine of sovereign immunity, which generally holds that citizens cannot sue governments and their agencies. The doctrine has been extended to publicly funded state colleges. Penn State, however, has taken steps to distinguish itself as a "state-related" institution as opposed to a "state institution," and it claims some autonomy and independence from the state. The further the university is from being considered a traditional "state college," the less it can rely on sovereign immunity.

The Clery Act, a federal law mandating comprehensive reporting and notice of on-campus crimes, is an underappreciated problem for Penn State. The Freeh Report makes clear that the university failed to follow the law. The Department of Education is currently evaluating Penn State's responsibility and will likely announce fines in the millions of dollars.

Former Penn state assistant coach Mike McQueary,Coach Factory Sale Outlet, who witnessed Sandusky rape Victim 2 and then later reported what he saw to Joe Paterno and a grand jury, recently sued Penn State in a whistleblower and defamation suit. McQueary was placed on paid administrative leave in November 2011 and was not retained by new coach Bill O'Brien for the 2012 season. McQueary claims Penn State caused him $4 million in damages through several types of harm. Among them: The university made him a scapegoat while protecting athletic director Tim Curley and vice president Gary Schultz (both of whom will go on trial in January); it gave him no credible opportunity to interview for a job with O'Brien; and it defamed his reputation. McQueary claims $4 million in damages.

The defamation claim, meanwhile, is based on statements made by then-Penn State president Graham Spanier, who endorsed the accounts of Curley and Shultz and thus cast doubt on McQueary's testimony. In response, expect Penn State to contend that the statements never mentioned McQueary and do not rise to defamation. The statements were also made in the context of a legal investigation where facts were still being determined.

Wherever Sandusky is assigned, he will likely request special protection, including supervised and controlled interaction with other prisoners. Unfortunately for Sandusky, Pennsylvania does not separate sex crime offenders from the general prison population. It is possible, however, that prison officials could take his celebrity into account if it's determined he is a more likely target because of his notoriety. Regardless, Sandusky will have to interact with other prisoners.

The sentence was less than expected. Cleland could have imposed a minimum sentence ranging from approximately 10-220 years in prison. Prior to the sentencing, one of Sandusky's attorneys, Karl Rominger, stated that among realistic outcomes the best-case scenario for Sandusky would be a 30-year minimum sentence. That's what Sandusky received.

Penn State is poised to prevail over these claims. Even in normal circumstances, a new head coach usually brings in new assistant coaches who share his coaching philosophy and who are loyal. McQueary, like most "holdovers," was unlikely to be retained by O'Brien regardless of his connection to Sandusky or any stigma suffered from an administrative leave. Indeed, O'Brien only retained two coaches from Paterno's staff: Larry Johnson and Ron Vanderlinden. Therefore, the university probably can show it had a lawful reason to let McQueary go. If so, McQueary will have difficulty prevailing on the whistleblower claim.

2. What are Sandusky's prospects for appeal?

Still, given Sandusky's age of 68, a sentence of at least 30 years in prison is essentially tantamount to a life sentence. Only a tiny percent of the U.S. population lives to 98, and Sandusky would have to do so as a child rapist living in prison conditions. By imposing what likely amounts to a life sentence, Cleland sent a clear message: Sandusky inflicted grotesque crimes on children and caused them irreparable harm, and thus deserves to spend his remaining years behind bars. It's a message to Sandusky and other child predators. It remains to be seen whether Sandusky's victims think the sentence matches the severity of the crimes.

First, Sandusky may genuinely believe he is innocent. He would not be the first guilty defendant to "recall" the past differently than everyone else.

Amendola contends his client should be assigned to a minimum-security prison. Don't expect that. Although Sandusky's advanced age suggests he will necessitate health care and not pose a threat to other prisoners, he is still a convicted child rapist who perpetuated violent crimes over many years. And he still refuses to admit his wrongdoing, let alone ask for forgiveness. Along those lines, placement in a minimum-security Pennsylvania prison such as Laurel Highlands (where as many as 20 percent of the inmates are elderly or suffering from medical disability) could appear inappropriately generous. Expect placement in a medium- or maximum-security facility instead.

Lastly, Sandusky might argue that the counsel he received from Amendola was so poor that it constituted ineffective assistance of counsel. This argument, which obviously would not be raised by Amendola, is sure to fail. Sandusky, who was a professor emeritus at Penn State, is undoubtedly a sophisticated defendant who could have sought legal counsel elsewhere. Even if Sandusky could prove Amendola was incompetent, he would still have to show that it made a difference in the trial's outcome.

Third, Sandusky may have a strategic purpose: self-preservation. He knows other inmates often target prisoners who committed sex crimes against children. Sandusky may surmise that if he maintains his innocence and claims he was victimized by some combination of conspiracy and scapegoating, other prisoners may be less inclined to view him as a child rapist and thus less inclined to hurt him.

While individual cases and state laws vary, Sandusky's sentence is somewhat short compared to sentences handed to other child rapists. An Alabama judge, for example, recently sentenced 25-year-old Mark Anthony Beecham to 634 years in prison for kidnapping, raping and sodomizing children. Although prison sentences in excess of plausible life expectancy may seem unnecessary, they serve the important function of recognizing the degree of harm caused.

5. How will Penn State defend against lawsuits filed by Sandusky's victims?

For the next few weeks, Sandusky will be housed at Camp Hill state prison, where his physical and mental health will be evaluated. The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections will then decide where Sandusky is incarcerated and the circumstances of his incarceration.

Sandusky is also poised to argue that he did not receive enough time to wage an effective defense. Amendola made several requests early on for "continuances" to better review the government's evidence, but they were denied. It's true that the prosecution of Sandusky moved relatively fast, though probably not to such an extent that Sandusky will be awarded a new trial. The fact remains that the evidence against Sandusky was overwhelming and came from multiple persons who had no apparent reason to lie.

For starters, Sandusky will likely claim that Cleland's decision to allow hearsay evidence in the form of one Penn State janitor testifying about a statement made by another janitor who now suffers from dementia constituted reversible judge error. This argument will probably fail, since the statement appeared to meet the "excited utterance" exception to hearsay, which says that statements made in response to unexpected and surprising events are likely true. The janitor who now suffers from dementia had just witnessed Sandusky rape a boy.

Sandusky will almost certainly file an appeal through attorney Joe Amendola and argue that he did not receive a fair trial or effective assistance of counsel. The chances of an appeal succeeding are low.

He also serves as NBA TV's On-Air Legal Analyst. .

6. How will Penn State contend with Clery Act violations?

The university has a difficult choice regarding the victims' lawsuits. On the one hand, there's a decent chance it would prevail over the claims should they go to trial. Consider Penn State's defense: The university would likely argue some of these claims are barred by the statute of limitations, which in Pennsylvania require victims of child abuse to sue by the time they are 30. The university could also cite case law from Pennsylvania suggesting that teenage victims (as opposed to children victims) who fell prey to a sexual predator because of verbal, rather than physical, threats must file claims well before age 30. Sandusky told Victim 10 he would be excommunicated from his family if he told anyone about the rape.

1. Was the sentence surprising?

The penalty, however, could be much worse: Clery Act sanctions can include suspension of students receiving federal financial aid. If future Penn State students are barred from receiving such aid, the university would have a much harder time recruiting students. Given Penn State's acceptance of responsibility, it is unlikely the Department of Education would impose such a devastating penalty.

Penn State will be dealing with the legal fallout of Sandusky's crimes for years. Most immediately, it faces lawsuits brought, or soon to be brought, by Sandusky's victims. "Victim 1" has already sued the university, claiming Penn State knew Sandusky was a "dangerous, sociopathic sexual predator" and failed to prevent Sandusky from harming him. Additional victims' lawsuits are expected. The number of persons victimized by Sandusky could be several dozen, if not more, and many of them could sue Penn State.

Judge John Cleland has sentenced former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky to . Sandusky, who in June was convicted on 45 counts of child abuse, will not be eligible for parole. Here's a look at the key questions following Tuesday's sentencing and the implications for Penn State moving forward.

4. Were the Sandusky comments aired Monday night on Penn State radio surprising?

Litigating would also pose the risk of the university losing in court and being forced to pay millions of dollars in damages. Penn State may also not be able to rely on its insurance company (Pennsylvania Manufacturer's Association) to pay litigation damages, as the two are already in court, fighting over whether insurance covers civil liability related to Sandusky.

On the other hand, the prospect of years of litigation to Penn State would undermine the tone the university has set in the wake of Sandusky's conviction: to apologize and move on. The university, for instance, immediately reached out to victims in the wake of Sandusky's verdict. It also,Coach Outlet, through the actions of Penn State president Rodney Erickson, quickly accepted NCAA sanctions. Litigation against Sandusky's victims would prove controversial and might tarnish Penn State's reputation well beyond the football program, including in fund raising and admissions.

"I feel like that we're young," Brown told CNN's Larry King days after his sentencing,Coach Factory Sale Outlet. "We're both young. So nobody taught us how to love one another. Nobody taught us a book on how to control our emotions or our anger. I'm not trying to fall on the fact that I'm young. I'm just saying it's a lot of stuff that I wish I could have changed that night."

Brown was arrested after an early morning argument inside a rented Lamborghini on a Hollywood street on February 8, 2009.

The singer sent an unsolicited statement to CNN announcing he was breaking up with Karrueche Tran, the 24-year-old model he began dating a year after he was arrested for the felony assault.

CNN's Denise Quan contributed to this report.

"I have decided to be single to focus on my career," Brown said. "I love Karrueche very much but I don't want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna. I'd rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives."

"He just can't bother her," Rihanna's lawyer, Donald Etra, said at the time.

Rihanna declined to speak to the probation investigator, so the probation report's details were gathered from police detectives who interviewed her soon after the attack.

Brown has made several public apologies to Rihanna for the attack, which he seemed to blame on his youth. He was 19 at the time.

Brown, 23, has two more years of probation to serve for his felony assault conviction, although the judge lifted the "stay away" order that kept him from his victim last year.

Eventually, the statement said, "Robyn F,Coach Outlet. began screaming for help and Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighborhood heard Robyn F.'s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F. was issued a domestic violence emergency protective order."

"Officers at the scene observed numerous contusions and abrasions to the victim's face and forehead, as well as bruising to her left arm near the bicep," it said. "They also saw abrasions to her arms near both wrists and on her upper chest near her collarbone and around her neck. There were abrasions on her left leg and on the inside of her upper lips."

The order, which was to expire in 2014, required Brown to stay 50 yards away from Rihanna,http://www.coachfactorysale-outlet.com/, 10 yards if the two are at the same industry event. The judge lifted the order in February 2011 with Rihanna's consent.

The detective said Brown sent a text message nine days later, apologizing.

The judge overseeing Brown's case imposed a "stay away" order when she sentenced him to five years of probation, community service and domestic violence counseling for his felony assault conviction in August 2009.

The talk of their reunion was fueled last month when Rihanna gave Brown a quick kiss and a hug at the MTV Video Music Awards last month as Brown walked to the stage to accept an award.

Tran tweeted a short message Wednesday that appeared directed at Brown: "Bye baby."

"He beat me up," Rihanna told the police, the report said.

"What I did was unacceptable, 100 percent. I can only ask and pray that you forgive me. Please."

The pair argued while in the car driven by Brown, the police statement said. It went on to describe the assault in great detail, saying Brown punched Rihanna -- identified in the statement by her real first name,Coach Factory Online, Robyn, and the first initial of her last name, Fenty -- numerous times and put her in a headlock, restricting her breathing and causing her to start to lose consciousness. He threatened to beat her and kill her, according to the statement, and he bit her ear and her fingers.

According to Brown's probation report, the argument began over an incident at a Beverly Hills party. An earlier, sworn statement by Los Angeles Police Detective DeShon Andrews said the incident began when Rihanna found a text message on his cell phone from "a woman who Brown had a previous sexual relationship with."

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Chris Brown acknowledged Thursday he has renewed his "friendship" with Rihanna, the woman he was convicted of beating on the eve of the Grammys in February 2009.

Brown made a public apology that July in a video statement posted on his personal Web site.

"I have told Rihanna countless times, and I'm telling you today, that I'm truly, truly sorry in that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better,www.coachfactorysale-outlet.com," Brown said in the Web site statement.

Rihanna told Oprah Winfrey in an emotional interview in August that Brown had been her "best friend" and she still loved him.

The announcement follows publication of paparazzi photos showing Brown and Rihanna together in public and rumors the two entertainers had reunited romantically.

Rihanna's injuries included cuts and bruises inflicted by a large ring on Brown's right hand, which he used to punch her, the probation report said.

Perspective during tough times

Everyone has a bad airline story to share

(CNN) -- American Airlines is facing a possible perfect storm of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, terrible labor relations with its pilots, delayed and canceled flights, aircraft seats that won't stay put and a growing number of reported flights diverted because of various problems midflight.

"Singapore Airlines played with our children and fed them so my wife and I could eat our meals," wrote Scott603.

"Absolutely horrible airline," wrote a commenter using the name AKbearhugger. "The last time I flew with them, they destroyed my bag. Completely destroyed it. I went to the claims desk, and the "Customer Service" agent said it wasn't covered. Let them go out of business."

That comment got more than 100 "likes" from our readers.

"I work for AA, on the ramp," wrote bbrooks1963. "And I would like to tell all of you: Sorry! Some of us really do all we can to provide the best service this airline can provide. I'm one of those unfortunate ones that just might be out of a job soon, but I still and will till the end, do my job to the best of my ability and without fail."

Goose69 prefers American to the competition: "Compared to most other US carriers, American was great. US Airways, Spirit, Delta and Continental are HORRIFYING experiences from start to finish. I'd take a loose seat rather then have to fly the competition,Coach Factory Sale Outlet. Come on American pilots, get back to work and be happy you are employed."

Editor's note: This story is part of CNN's series of stories looking at interesting comments and thought-provoking conversations posted by the community.

An apology from an employee

"The NFL was just fine with replacement referees, so sure let's use replacement pilots and mechanics for American Airlines," wrote OhRReally.

"Whether you wish to fly them or not, you don't want them to go out of business or merge. Bad for the consumer!" wrote Jhaza2k. "They are definitely not worst airline though, just disgruntled employees at a trying time for this airline."

"This past weekend, I was on two AA flights that were delayed; the first because the oxygen bottles that the pilots rely on in case of a decompression were found to be EMPTY and had to be replaced; the second because the altimeter was broken. (Kind of important stuff to fix before takeoff, I think.)," continued cyansky. "These flights were manned with a crew whose captain and two flight attendants all lost their homes to foreclosure within the same time frame that AA executives awarded themselves millions of dollars in bonuses."

They're not all on American

A couple of posters claiming to work for American tried to offer some perspective.

Better airline food could help

Travel agents and customers who book their own travel are starting to question whether they should fly the airline.

"AA is my last option," wrote Rick Ruiz. "Oldest jets in the fleet, every time I board one of their planes I feel like I just time traveled 20 to 30 years. Leg room is by far the worst of any carrier. Very expensive to fly them as well,http://www.coachfactorysale-outlet.com/."

Some folks seem to have a broader perspective: Expressing compassion for the airline and its employees and noting its importance to U.S. airline competition.

"The service would still stink, but you would not care anymore."

"AA tried to renegotiate contracts prior to this but the pilots refused," wrote casprd, in reponse to sju36's comment. "Having worked there for a long time, I can say that the pilots hold the rest of the company hostage.

"My worse experience EVER was with Delta," wrote wedn28,Coach Outlet. "They are the reason I do carry-on now. I'd take my chances with US Airways or AA if I have to, but try to use Jetblue."

Comments have been edited for clarity and brevity.

People who fly foreign airlines say the airline crews treat their customers better than their U.S. counterparts.

More than 500 readers commented on CNN.com's story asking that question, many lamenting what they see as the decline of a once-proud airline and others reporting that other U.S. airlines aren't any better.

"I have over 10 million miles on American's AAdvantage program -- and I can tell you for certain their service has become a lot worse," wrote DeeJ.

"Maybe those brilliant corporate leaders at American Airlines should embrace the NFL model for skilled-employee labor disputes: call in the replacements! Hey, it's just a fully loaded 767!" wrote sju36.

Calling in replacements

"They brought them toys once an hour and helped us get on/off the plane, on more than one trip," he added. "Qatar brought my mother-in-law from the plane in JFK, through customs and immigration and right out to us, they are awesome!!"

" says Oliveira.

(CNN),http://www.coachoutletonlinetote.com -- Pounding humidity, a treacherous climb and bees who were more than happy to sting: Tough conditions for ash boarding down a live volcano, and halfway up Nicaragua's Cerro Negro,Prada Bags, it didn't seem like such a good idea.

But then there was the view: A cascade of grey-black ash and rock stretching to the horizon, giving the hilly landscape an alien quality.

We walked in single file carrying our boards and a bag full of gear for nearly an hour until we reached the summit.

Approaching the edge of the volcano, the 1,600 foot slope was pretty steep and uninviting. Our guide consoled us with the knowledge that we were lucky to have our plywood and metal boards as someone else had gone down the volcano on a bicycle. And nearly died.

Still, I donned my prison-style boiler suit and goggles, sat on the board and let myself slide. It was a thrill as I quickly gathered speed, scraping over pebbles and eating flying grit until I finally wiped out at the bottom.

The activity is one of Nicaragua's more unusual tourist hooks. Pioneered by the Australian owner of a hostel in the nearby city of Leon in 2005, ash boarding down Central America's youngest volcano has become a cottage industry. The hostel is now owned by Brazilian Breno Oliveira, who says the tourism industry is becoming more competitive as it develops.

"When Bigfoot first started it,Prada Handbags Outlet Online, it was something new. And then it became bigger and bigger. This brings a lot of business," says Oliveira.

Competition is growing. He says hotels and hostels in Leon have grown from two to more than 40 in seven years.

"This to be honest is the main income of the hostel,Coach Outlet, if it didn't have the ash boarding it would just be a hostel and it becomes very difficult to survive."

Tourism's role

For many, especially in the United States, Nicaragua is associated with 1980s-era Marxist guerillas and the Iran-Contra scandal. Corruption and U.S. embargoes certainly took their toll on the country and by the time the Sandinistas left power in 1990, the tourism industry was a basket case.

Yet Nicaragua has always had huge potential. Known as the "Land of Lakes and Volcanoes," it has immense natural beauty and alluring colonial towns. It's still very underdeveloped -- the second poorest country in the hemisphere -- and you can expect to experience power cuts and traffic jams behind horse carts on main highways.

Per capita income is barely more than $1,200 a year, so for a country like Nicaragua, tourism is actually the second largest industry -- and an engine for lifting the population out of poverty. The latest figures for this year reveal an increase in visitors of 12% from 2011.

"The tourism industry of Nicaragua has been growing at an important rate in the last few years," says Mario Salinas, the country's Tourism Minister. "And it's becoming one of the two or three top generators of foreign currency and employment for our country."

A mandatory destination on any itinerary is Grenada. Perched on Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America, the city is renowned for its stunning architecture. It was founded by the Spanish in 1524 and subsequently razed three times by pirates but was rebuilt and served as a conservative stronghold during the country's civil war.

The city is overshadowed by the hulking Mombacho Volcano, a popular hiking destination. There is also a galaxy of hundreds of small islands formed from a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago and strewn across Lake Nicaragua.

Driving down the lake's malecon looking for a tour boat, it was clear waterfront development had been approached with great ambition. Somehow the vision fell short: rows of bars,http://www.pradahandbagoutletonline.com, restaurants and nightclubs looked like they had been closed for months.

Once out on the lake, the tranquil tour of the islets gives you the opportunity to gawp at the holiday homes of some of the country's richest families. Each dominate certain sections of the economy -- such as media or brewing -- and naturally each owns an islet. Occasional "For sale" signs rise up out of the water, and in case you're interested, an island will set you back around $400,000 -- negotiable.

Country at a crossroads

But be careful. According to the U.S. State Department, property laws in Nicaragua are somewhat murky: "Establishing verifiable title history is often entangled in legalities relating to the expropriation of 28,000 properties by the revolutionary government in the 1980s."

The State Department says this remains a key impediment to attracting greater foreign investment in the tourism industry, a claim Salinas obviously rejects.

"There are many international agreements that Nicaragua has signed with other countries to protect the safety of foreign investment," he says. "We haven't seen complications from 2007 until now and what could have happened is that the government may have verified a few properties to be completely sure of the origin of those properties."

The Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega, once dismissed as a dinosaur, swept back into power in 2007 and has since been re-elected in an election condemned by international observers for its irregularities. Many may balk at the return of such a notorious figure, but the government says he is making tourism a priority and understands the conditions needed to attract visitors.

San Juan del Sur has certainly maintained its inviting atmosphere. The laid back surfing mecca is close to the border with Costa Rica and may be the ideal place to wind down your tour.

A young Mark Twain famously arrived here by boat in 1866 and was entranced by the "bright green hills" that form a semi-circle around the bay. Then a ramshackle primitive port, San Juan has grown into a ramshackle party town whose waterfront is lined with several bars catering to young tourists.

During the day,Coach Factory Outlet, the local tourism industry exploits the town's natural blessings. San Juan's main beach is largely a fishing and transit hub and the main surfing spots are a 20-minute drive away. The roads deteriorate rapidly as you leave town and a 4x4 vehicle was needed to get through the final stages of one route to the beach.

But like Nicaragua as a whole,www.coachoutletfactory-sale.com, it's worth the effort: The waves are superb and the shorelines shockingly underdeveloped and wild. Nonsurfers can head to the high seas for some world-class deep-sea fishing and may be surprised at their unusual level of success.

Nicaragua holds a great variety of experiences for any visitor, and the country is one of few states whose immediate future really is tied to the tourism industry. For now,Prada Handbag Outlet, it's seemingly at a crossroads, with many of the big developers watching the turn of events.

such as through cognitive therapy

Psychologists use the term "resilience" to describe how quickly people tend to recover from emotional setbacks, whether getting cut off in traffic or losing a job. The more resilient you are, the more you can limit the impact of stress on your health. Genetics play only a small role, says Richard Davidson, founder and chair of the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the University of WisconsinMadison. In fact, research spanning decades at Davidson's and other labs confirms that anyone can become more resilient with practice.

To help his own patients,Prada Outlet Handbag, Stanford's Spiegel coined an acronym,Prada Handbags Outlet Online, FACE. In short: Face or acknowledge stressors rather than running away from them; Alter perceptions to view these challenges in a more positive way, such as through cognitive therapy, hypnosis, or mindfulness training; Cope actively, by proactively heading off future stressors when possible; and Express your emotions rather than holding them in. "People under stress often view emotion as the enemy,Prada Bags, but expressing it appropriately is important, coach factory," Spiegel says. For example, you don't want to tell your boss he's a jerk, but you can say,Coach Outlet, "I felt negated when you said that at the meeting. " Or sound off instead to your partner,Prada Handbag Outlet, a friend, support group, or therapist.

Finally,http://www.pradahandbagoutletonline.com, help your body function at its optimum level: Eat regular, balanced meals; aim for the recommended daily seven to nine hours of sleep for adults; and, especially, exercise 30 minutes each day. Even gentle walking is sufficient to boost mood and lower stress,Prada Outlet, according to the NIMH. More vigorous exercise may provide additional protection. A 2010 study by Epel's lab found that those all-important telomeres were longer in highly stressed postmenopausal women who met the exercise goals outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which includes at least 150 minutes of brisk walking each week, plus two days of strength training. Sue Wasserman keeps her anxiety in check with daily treks along local hiking trails. "I may get stressed about an incoming check being late," she says, but as she starts moving, her worries and tension seem to ebb away.

Obstructive sleep apnea

Sleep apnea has traditionally -- and erroneously -- been seen as a "men's disorder." The truth is,Coach Outlet, obstructive sleep apnea is a common sleep disorder among women. And a new study indicates that the frequency of sleep apnea among women may be higher than we previously believed.

Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when breathing is interrupted during sleep, because of the closing of the upper airway. These pauses in breathing can occur anywhere from a few times a night to hundreds of times in the course of a sleep period. People who suffer from sleep apnea often snore, and frequently experience daytime sleepiness. Obesity is a primary risk factor for obstructive sleep apnea. Current estimates generally put the frequency of obstructive sleep apnea at somewhere in the range of 3 to 7 percent of the population, as many as 20 million American adults. Like many sleep disorders, obstructive sleep apnea is generally thought to be under-diagnosed, which means the actual number of sufferers is likely to be even higher than these numbers suggest. Men are typically regarded as being at higher risk for sleep apnea, and as a result more attention has been paid to identifying and treating sleep apnea in men than women.

Researchers in Sweden investigated the frequency of sleep apnea among 400 women between the ages of 20-70. The participants were selected from a population-based sample of 10,000 women. Researchers collected information on evidence of sleep apnea using both a questionnaire and overnight sleep monitoring. They found rates of sleep apnea among women to be substantially higher than they expected:

50 percent of women in the study were found to have some degree of sleep apnea
20 percent were found to have moderate sleep apnea
6 percent were experiencing sleep apnea that qualified as severe

The researchers found a strong association between sleep apnea in women and the risk factors of age, obesity,Prada Handbag Outlet, and hypertension:

Among older women, severe sleep apnea was more common: 14 percent of women ages 55-70 had severe obstructive sleep apnea
80 percent of women who were considered obese -- with a body mass index of 30 or higher -- had some degree of sleep apnea. Again,Prada Bags, older women were more at risk: 31 percent of women ages 55-70, who also had a BMI of 30 or higher, had severe sleep apnea
84 percent of women with high blood pressure also had sleep apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea, in addition to being disruptive to daily (and nightly) life, can also cause serious health problems. Complications of sleep apnea include increased risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease, as well as diabetes. Sleep apnea's link to sexual dysfunction in men is well established. But sleep apnea often leads to sexual problems in women, as well.

As with many aspects of sleep apnea,Prada Outlet Handbag, more attention has been paid to its health and quality-of-life effects on men than on women, and that needs to change. Women and men have different experiences of sleep -- different challenges, and different responses to sleep disorders and sleeplessness. We're continually learning more about how sleep disorders and their health consequences affect women differently from men:

This study indicates women may be more at risk for cardiovascular problems than men. Researchers found that biological markers for heart disease are more significantly affected by sleeplessness in women than in men.

Women with sleep difficulties appear to be more susceptible to weight problems than men. This study found that low sleep in women is more closely linked to higher BMI than in men. And this study found that in women, coach factory, sleep apnea is closely linked to metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of medical conditions, including excess weight around the torso, insulin resistance, and a sedentary lifestyle, that together indicate an elevated risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Women also experience particular hormonal shifts throughout their lives,http://www.pradahandbagoutletonline.com, associated with menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause,Prada Outlet, that can pose for them specific challenges to sleep, especially with age.

Because women's sleep is different than men's, women's symptoms related to sleep apnea might also be different. Loud snoring and daytime sleepiness may not be as strongly present. Women -- especially older women -- who have risk factors associated with sleep apnea, factors including hypertension and obesity, should talk with their doctors about their sleep,Prada Handbags Outlet Online, and the possible presence of sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.

It's high time we let go of the idea of sleep apnea as a men's problem. We need to be equally aggressive in learning about, treating, and preventing sleep apnea in women.

When Mumford & Sons keyboardist-singer Ben Levitt called his band a "poor man's version of The Beatles" during a Friday evening concert, coach factory, perhaps it was because he was thinking about "Saturday Night Live." The band -- whose new album,Prada Outlet, Babel,Prada Handbag Outlet, is set for release this week -- performed two new songs on Saturday night's edition of the late-night comedy series and also appeared as a Beatles cover band during one the sketches.
